Ctrl-Shift Releases Paper on Information Logistics Platforms
UK market analyst and advisory company Ctrl-Shift has published a White Paper ‘Information Logistics: Key to Digital Value Creation’. It describes the challenge and opportunity of ‘information logistics’ – of getting exactly the right information to and from the right people in the right format at the right place and time – and the new Information Logistics Platforms (ILPs) being launched across the world such as SWIFT Innotribe’s Digital Asset Grid prototype.
Right now, sharing, accessing and using data is fraught with risk, cost and complexity but new ILPs coming to market are tackling these ‘hard’ problems of data quality, trust, identity, rights, permissions and value exchange. They remove the barriers which are blocking the full wealth-creating potential of the information age and, as the paper explains, they lead to a breakthrough in productivity, provide a new platform for innovation and physical as well as digital efficiencies.
When ILPs enable both B2C and C2B trusted information sharing this propels the biggest value explosion. By enabling individuals to have the same status as organisations – both as information providers and users – ILPs become a springboard for innovation through unleashing VPI (Volunteered Personal Information) and enabling new Personal Information Management Services. The paper predicts an explosion of interest, and investment, in ILPs over the coming few years.
“As well as providing a really useful context and market perspective, this paper describes the enormous opportunities created by new global networks for trusted data sharing between parties such as the Digital Asset Grid and the Respect Network,” says Drummond Reed, Managing Director of the Respect Network. “It recognises their game changing potential to unleash a new asset class of useful applications and services with economic and social value.”
“This paper is for anyone who wants to understand about the development of this new and hugely important market, the pace of change and direction of travel,” says Liz Brandt, CEO, Ctrl-Shift. “We’re keen to hear from organisations who want to explore what this means for them and how to seize the opportunity.”
